Opened by three friends, a photographer, a magazine creative director, and a hospitality vet, the first thing you’ll see when you walk up to Wise Men is a giant family photo- also all women. The bar name was borrowed from a successful Chinatown steakhouse restaurant which opened in the early 1970s by one of the bar owner’s families.
The bar focuses on classic cocktails using fresh and simple ingredients to create drinks with a twist using things like licorice root, marashino, egg whites, and more. On the food menu you’ll find perfect, savory pairing for your drinks to be had alone or shared. Right on the Bowery, the bar has a perfect mix of downtown cool, and old-school vibe and makes a perfect stop on our NY Craft Cocktail Tour. If you stop by don’t miss the ‘Pulp Fiction’, made with Solbeso, a new distilled spirit made from the cacao fruit.
