In the heat of summer, there’s nothing better than a refreshing dip at one of the city’s awesome beaches. After Sandy, the Rockaways have gotten a major overhaul with beach, eats, live music, shopping and more! You can take the A train (and transfer to a free shuttle train) or grab the Seastreak ferry from E 34th St. and FDR drive or from Pier 11 on Wall Street which will cost you $3.50 one way. To eat, you might want to head over to local favorite Connolly’s Bar, which during sandy was filled with about five and a half feet of water. Their famous frozen drink machine survived, so piña coladas flow generously. At night you can catch an open mic, or a dance-off between lifeguards. And of course, you can’t hit the Rockaways without grabbed a Craft Beer by their very own Rockaway Brewing Company at the concession stand!
