Head to some of the city’s top restaurants & shops celebrating “Sweet Septemeber” where they’ll be selling a sweet treat (crystallized violet, red velvet cake, sweet potato pound cake, milkshakes, brownies…). At least $1 of every treat sold will be donated to Citymeals-On-Wheels, a nonprofit organization that prepares and delivers more than two million meals each year for aging New Yorkers. This epic ‘walk around’ tasting will be hosted at the Museum of the City of New York to celebrate Harvest Home. Another great event of Oyster Week, the Stone Street Oyster Festival is the Manhattan's largest outdoor oyster festival. You'll have a pick of 35,000 oysters along with other foods and can partake in their attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Record for The Most Oyster Shells Recovered from a Single Day Oyster Event. The event takes care to recycle a majority of the oyster shells from all of their events with help from the NY Harbor School for the Oyster Reef Restoration Programs.
