Harvest Time, GCT on Film, Run for the Love of Beer, + Sheep & Wool Upstate
Harvest has begun at the Red Hook Winery and while they begin making their 2017 vintages, you can come taste the new releases from 2015 and 2016, along with some even older wines. There will also be food and as always, great views from the winery tasting room.
The iconic Grand Central Terminal has been featured in more films and television shows than we can name. For the entire day, Vanderbilt Hall will be screening clips from classic movies set in the train station. At 12:30pm, they will host a talk about GCT's role in Hollywood and the evening will conclude with a ticketed screening of North by Northwest.
Most of us would run very far for a beer. How about 5K? Set a course on this race on Randall's Island around the NYC skyline. The finish line will be lined with unlimited food and beer from over 15 breweries, including local favorites Interboro and Rockaway. There will also be live music, games, and a rush of adrenaline after the race.
Get out of the city for the day with this Escapemaker tour that heads up to the New York State Sheep and Wool Festival in Rhinebeck. The tour meets at the Poughkeepsie train stain (an easy ride from Grand Central on Metro North) and explores local knitted crafts, weaves, and sheep (yes, some wooly friends will be in attendance). Local bites, crochet workshops, and a wine pavilion will round out the cozy afternoon among the changing autumn leaves.
