Potato Pancake Party, Lebanese Dinner, Last Minute Shopping, + Christmas at Synagogue
Latkes, or potato pancakes, are as important to the celebration of Hanukkah as menorahs and dreidels. Head to the Brooklyn Museum to immerse yourself in these savory treats. Taste for yourself and decide which restaurant makes them best. Participants include Shelsky's of Brooklyn and Loreley Beer Garden
Lebanese Chef Edouard Massih, who used to work at North End Grill, will share stories and food during this four course dinner featuring an array of family-style traditional dishes at Kitchen NYC. Before you start your holiday cooking for the weekend, let a professional give you some ideas and save room for the baklava!!
Do you always wait until the last minute to get all your holiday shopping done? Well now you don't need to stress because Brooklyn Brainery is hosting a free market the day before Christmas Eve where you can pick up some cool gifts from flowers to foodstuffs to ceramics by local artists, including some of the Brainery teachers.
If you don't celebrate Christmas or your family is out of town, you can always go to synagogue(!) The Eldridge Street Museum will be open with special events, family activities, and live music. See the new Let There Be Light! featuring over 100 menorahs. And do what many Jewish people do afterwards and get some Chinese food in nearby Chinatown.
