Rare Beers on a Historic Boat, Brewery Preview, Indonesian Feast, + Ice Cream Showdown
This isn't just any beer sail - this is a rare opportunity to sail around New York Harbor on the 130 year-old schooner Pioneer and an even rarer opportunity to taste some of Brooklyn Brewery's experimental beers that only rear their head on very special occassions. Brewmaster Garrett Oliver hosts the tasting sponsored by South Street Seaport Museum.
It's getting very difficult to keep up with all the new breweries opening in Brooklyn. But that's what we do! The newest one will be the first in DUMBO and it is a brewery off-shoot of The Randolph, a popular craft beer bar. Join beer write Joshua M. Bernstein as he gives you a sneak peek of the large brewery and introduces the brewery crew. The brewery is not yet officially open to the public, but this preview event is.
Indonesian food is one of the least represented in NYC. But Awang Kitchen opened recently in Elmhurst specializing in traditional Indonesian specialities. Queens Dinner Club is bringing Chef Awang's food to Astoria. Experience a traditional litewan meal served on banana leaves at The Astor Room.
July is National Ice Cream Month and we think you should consume as much ice cream as humanely possible. Another opportunity is at this annual event which brings together home cooks who compete to see who has come up with and produced the best ice cream. And the winner is chosen by all the attendees who have to try all the ice cream - tough job!!
