In the early 1800s, Germans were one of the largest ethnic groups in NYC influencing the neighborhoods, culture and food that we think of today as classic New York (not to mention Kindergarten & the Christmas Tree…). However when owner Michael Momm (a German immigrant) opened the restaurant in 2003 there were less than 20 authentic German restaurants, and none that catered to a younger crowd.

All of the beer is imported directly from Germany and the food is German-style comfort food. Sit in their private backyard garden on tables made by the same carpenter who fashioned brewery pubs in Cologne. Traditional, yet with a contemporary edge. Rhineland and Cologne serve (where Michael Momm grew up) serve as inspiration and so you’ll find Kölsch beer served in the typical narrow glasses.
