![]() Big Alice Brewery is actually quite tiny, but they're making some big, memorable beers. They'll be featured on our newest tour, the NYC Brewery Tour, and are one of the most exciting new breweries to open in the city. Named for Big Allis, a giant electric power generator nearby that was commissioned by ConEd and built in 1965. The plant currently supplies power to 3 million people. ![]() Big Alice, the brewery, is at the opposite end of the industrial spectrum. It is a tiny nano-brewery in the heart of industrial Long Island City, brewing just 10 gallons of beer at a time for a total of 24 barrels a year. To put that into perspective, Brooklyn Brewery is able to brew 30 barrels in one batch. So Big Alice basically makes as much beer in a year as Brooklyn makes in an afternoon. But they are turning out such amazing beer. All of their beers use unexpected ingredients and are made to pair with food. ![]() It helps that they are served in impressive 750 ml bottles that are perfect for the dinner table. Since their production is so small, they never make the same beer twice and have the freedom to get very creative with each batch. Past concoctions include Shiso & Szechuan Honey Pale Ale, Rye Saison with Garam Masala, Tomato Chipotle & Chocolate Kolsch, and a Smoked Lager with Curry & Lapsang.
