#CurrentObsession:  McSorley's Old Ale House

The Obsession:
A spot with killer atmosphere + a long history as one of NYC's oldest bars [THE oldest if you ask them].

The Basics:
Only light or dark ale [only] served in two glasses with plenty of seating in their back room.

What's the Deal?
One of the last "Men Only" pubs in NYC (even the female owner refused to step foot inside during open hours- a law suit forced them to open it to women in 1970 but their failed to add a female bathroom...), this Irish tavern is crawling with history.  From the sawdust floors, to the old wooden bar, you're looking at decor that hasn't been changed in decades.
To order like a savvy local- just saw "light" or "dark" and don't be surprised when they stick two glasses in front of you.

You can visit McSorley's Old Ale House in the East Village, right off of the Astor station on the 6 Train.

#CurrentObsessions:  Pasticceria Rocco ["Rocco's"]

The Obsession:
Our favorite cannoli in the city [that's saying a LOT!]

The Basics:
An Italian Cafe that's been family-run in the Village since 1974 serving up classic Italian pastries.

What's the Deal?
It's honestly our favorite cannoli.  It's not too sugary which is hard to find in the US.  They're still pretty big though so if you're not going to split it, opt for a mini- we also always get the pistachio topping.  In addition to the typical array of Italian classic pastries, they made amazingly large cookies in a variety of flavors.  All of them are soft, chewy + perfect.
There's a huge coffee + tea list with decent prices + a nice garden area in the back to sit.  It can certainly be filled with tourists, but it's worth a visit if you're hanging out in the Village + just want to grab a coffee/snack + chat with a friend.

You can visit Rocco's by taking the B/D/F/M/A/C/E trains to the West 4th Street station, or the 1 train to Christopher St.
