Bridging Bushwick
Monday, December 30th, 6:30 - 9 pm


After the success of the first “Bridging Bushwick: Potluck & Performances,” The Living Gallery & Jazzacelss Boutique have decided to host a second event. Trying to bridge the gap between neighbors in Bushwick, the event tries to eliminate certain stereotypes and provide a good time for all neighbors! New Year’s Swim Day in Coney Island
Wednesday, January 1st, 1 pm


Start your New Year off right and take part in the annual New Year’s Day Swim in Coney Island. Jump into the icy Atlantic Ocean with members of the Polar Bear Club! The event is free, but there is a suggested $20 donation to benefit Camp Sunshine. Do something fun, adventurous, and charitable to start off 2014! Healthy Living Cooking Class
Thursday, January 2nd 3:30-5 pm


Stick to your New Years resolution by learning how to cook gluten free food for a healthier you! Learn to make roasted eggplant, apricot chicken and a healthy chocolate cake so you can really attain your goals for the New Year! The New York City Dept of Parks & Recreation, the New York City Department of Sanitation and GreeNyc are asking for your old Christmas trees to recycle into wood chips. Fun, Unconventional Ways to Celebrate New Year’s Eve


Want to celebrate the New Year without the over priced and over crowded open bars? We’ve put together a list of unconventional ways to ring in 2014 so that you can start the New Year off the way you want. Whether it’s bowling, yoga, or enjoying movie clips while having some beer, we have options for everyone’s personal preference. Read below to find out how you can make sure your New Year’s is an unforgettable one!

  • Brooklyn Bowl, Delta Spirits: Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Brooklyn Bowl where they will be hosting performances by Delta Spirits, The Cults and SACCO. Enjoy great music while bowling and enjoying New Year’s Eve with friends. Make sure your 2014 starts off with a strike! Advanced tickets are sold out, but there are still VIP tickets available, as well as a limited amount of tickets at the box office the day of. For more information, click here. 
  • The Nineteenth Annual Brooklyn Bridge Walk Into the New Year: Bring in the New Year learning all about the Brooklyn Bridge. Tours are led across the bridge as you learn the history and see all of the beautiful lights.  Refreshments are provided and tour go-ers will be able to see the fireworks and Empire State Building’s light show.   • New Year's Eve Spirit Dive with DJ Bryan Black: Begin the New Year in a calm and healthy atmosphere. In this two-hour yoga class, you will be able to practice your technique, enjoy music by DJ Bryan Black, and exhale 2013 as you focus on 2014. There will also be cake and Kombucha.   • New Year’s Greatest Hits Party: Brooklyn Brewery is throwing a New Year’s Eve party with Nitehawk Cinemas and DJ SeekTen. The night will include great music and clips of classic party scenes. With an open bar, delicious snacks, and a raffle, it’s a fun way to unwind and celebrate 2014 with friends. Also, everyone will take home a souvenir Brooklyn Brewery glass! Kosher Restaurant Week

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce will be hosting it’s first ever Kosher Restaurant Week. Over twenty restaurants will be participating in this year’s event, serving a variety of food from steak to sushi. Each restaurant will offer its own lunch and/or dinner specials! Current Katz’s Delicatessen owner Jake Fell will discuss the deli inspired book. The book is traces the history of the 125-year-old deli on Houston Street as seen through the photos by Baldomero Fernandez. In addition, they will be sharing anecdotes from Dell–including the secret to Katz’s pickling process, and discussing the deli’s special place in New York City’s history with Adam Krefman, publisher of Lucky Peach.
