June Monthly Pearl - One Girl Cookies

5/28/2014

If you walk into One Girl Cookies’ Cobble Hill bakery, after you’ve drooled over the treats, you might notice a hand painted family tree, vintage serving pieces and giant family photos throughout the space.  You’ll find threads of family tied into every touch at this Brooklyn bakery including recipes passed down through the baker’s own families.  Bringing a modern touch to these classics, the shop focuses on the importance of quality and freshness in their raw ingredients.  Get them to go or enjoy them with a wine or beer at their 2nd shop in Dumbo.

Some of their treats include delicious cookies like the Lucia (a shortbread, caramel, and chocolate layer bar) or the Olga (chocolate mint ganache sandwiched between sugar cookies).  Looking for something with a little more icing?  Try their Whoopie Pies (pumpkin or chocolate cake filled with cream cheese frosting), a cross between a cake and a cookie.  Or maybe you’re just a cupcake person.  Then treat yourself to a banana cupcake with mocha buttercream, or a chocolate cupcake with cream cheese buttercream…  The possibilities are endless and the sprinkles are always free.
Once you’re a die-hard fan, they’ll even let you in on their recipes so you can try your hand at recreating some of their best-sellers at home.  Take a class at the shop to learn how to make tarts, breakfast, cupcakes or even a Thanksgiving Pie at their annual November class.  Or pick up their cookbook for even more ideas!  Learn more on their Web Site.
