West Indian Day Parade
Monday, Sept. 1, 11am
This festival started in the 1920s with Carnival in Harlem with big costume parties run by a group of West Indian friends in famous ballrooms around the neighborhood. The activities moved outside to the street in the 1940s and has grown to the Labor Day Carnival Parade in Brooklyn that now attracts over 1 million people. Bike Ride at Governer’s Island
