Step into History on this Tour of Brooklyn's Oldest German Catholic Parish!
Take a tour of the Parish of Most Holy Trinity - St. Mary,
one of Brooklyn's most beautiful and historic churches.
“Francie thought it was the most beautiful church in Brooklyn. It was made of old gray stone and had twin spires that rose cleanly into the sky, high above the tallest tenements. Inside, the high vaulted ceilings, narrow deepset stained-glass windows and elaborately carved altars made it a miniature cathedral.”

Explore the oldest German Catholic parish
in Brooklyn on this tour of the beautiful and historic Church of Most
Holy Trinity - St. Mary in the eastern part of Williamsburg. On this tour, we'll explore the church, which
was built in 1885 as "The German Cathedral" and share fascinating
stories about the German-speaking immigrants who worshiped here and
lived in the heart of Brooklyn's German Town. We'll explore the
beauty of the sanctuary and its unique architectural features, and then
venture up into the towers, down into the crypt, and even take a peek
into the rathskeller basement of the rectory where clergy once
entertained guests. We'll also reflect on the Irish heritage of the
congregation, highlighting its pre-Civil War beginnings and share the
stories of more recent immigrant groups that have worshiped at the
church over time.
