Family History Tours of New York City Neighborhoods
Do you have ancestors with roots in New York City?
Let us take you on a journey through the neighborhoods that they knew!
"Urban Oyster did a wonderful job of not only leading a tour of my great
grandfather's neighborhood, but actually doing primary historical
research on our family during his time using census data and other
historical records, and discovering interesting details about the
family and our history that none of us knew. It was a great experience
that my family is still pondering and buzzing about even months later!" -Testimonial from Peter Glickman, Manhattan
Do you have ancestors from one of New York City's neighborhoods in the 19th or early 20th centuries? Ever wonder about where they lived, who their neighbors were, or how it felt to walk down their street? Put the Urban Oyster team to work to create a custom-made neighborhood tour sparked by your family history. This is the perfect experience for a family reunion, anniversary, or for out-of-town guests coming into New York for a wedding weekend.
Our process starts with a preliminary interview that's free of charge so that we have a better understanding of the information you already have about your ancestral history. From there, we'll propose a variety of options for you to choose from. Our work will include historical research at public and online archives (census records, maps, building records and photos, etc.), a tour that's tailor-made based on a time and place in your family's history, and a package for you and your family members of all of the primary source materials from our research. Options are also available for professional photography and/or videography to document the family's experience on the tour. Pricing: Price will vary as each experience is customized. Starting rate is $1,200. Please contact Urban Oyster at (347) 903-TOUR (8687) or at info@urbanoyster.com for more information. | Interested in inquiring about a
