Start out in Williamsburg at the North 6th St./ North Williamsburg Terminal. If you’re visiting on a Sunday you can get some shopping in at the Brooklyn Flea, take a walk down to see the Domino Sugar Factory before it’s taken down or grab a beer at Berry Park’s rooftop. Head straight down North 6th Street towards the water to relax by the water as you wait for your ferry.
There’s nothing like being outdoors in the summer in NYC. Why not extend your time in the sun with an outdoor commute as well? For those of us who are not quite the athletic bikers, take an alternative to the underground subway and enjoy the fresh air on your commute. The East River Ferry can get you from Brooklyn, to Queens, to Manhattan with incredible views of the city skyline from the East River. Then take the ferry one stop up to the new Gantry Park in Hunters Point, Queens for some more incredible views of the city. This new area (called by some the “Queens Riviera”) is in it’s final construction phase so isn’t quite run over with crowds yet. You can go fishing, grab a lounge chair on one of the docks, watches the dogs play at the fenced in playground or grab a bite to eat along the water, or at one of the great restaurants on the booming Vernon Blvd. From here the ferry can take you to Manhattan, or back to Brooklyn, or you can catch the 7 train nearby.
