History of Beer, Beer Tasting Event
June 23rd 7-9pm at Brooklyn Historical Society

Beer will change the world beer tasting event
Urban Oyster presents a lesson in history told through beer at the Brooklyn Historical Society.  Join local beer guides David Naczycz and Cindy VandenBosch as they lead a delicious beer tasting using present day versions of historical beers to tell the story of beer, its key role in our civilization and how, ultimately, it found its way to Brooklyn where it prospered, fell, and now is prospering again.  There is no better way to learn about history than by tasting it.  The tasting will include six beers along with delicious food pairings.  Through these tastings we’ll get a sense of how everyone from ancient Mesopotamians to Belgian monks to our Brooklyn grandfathers drank their beer and how all of our lives are different today because of beer. Limited seated. Advance ticket purchase recommended.

Beer vs. Wine: The Ultimate Battle
Thr., March 31st from 7-9pm - Jimmy's #43

Beer and Wine Tasting Event in New York City
Yankees/Red Sox, Bears/Packers, dogs/cats.  Everyone loves a good rivalry and few are better, or more hotly contested than Beer vs. Wine.  Join Urban Oyster, Swirl Events, and Jimmy's No. 43 as we put beer and wine to the test with you as the judge.  At this event, you'll taste four different dishes, each paired with wine and beer, and then we'll vote on which was the best pairing.  Urban Oyster's beer guru will face off against Swirl Events wine experts in a fight to the end...of the glass that is.  While helping judge the winner you'll learn all about tasting beer and wine like professionals do, as well as how to pair both with food to enhance flavors and experience.  Finally, you'll be introduced to some of the best craft beers and wines out there so you can stock your wine fridge, cellar, kegerator, etc. when you get home.

NYC Beer Tasting February Event:
Beer and Chocolate Pairing - Beer is for Lovers
Wed, Feb. 9th from 7-9pm - dba East Village

Join Urban Oyster, Mast Brothers Chocolate and d.b.a to explore the wonderful world of Beer and Chocolate.  What's that?  You didn't think beer went with chocolate.  Well, think again and bring your sweetie to this event where you'll both enjoy pairing fruity Belgian ales and chocolaty stouts with Mast Brothers' handcrafted locally made chocolate. 

This event will pair several different beer styles with delicious Mast Bros. craft chocolate.  We'll mix and match great beer and chocolate flavors like sweet and salty, nutty and coffee, and fruity and dark bitterness.  Much like cacao beans, malted grains are roasted before they are used to make beer and as we venture beyond light American lagers into the brave new world of Stouts, Dunkels, and Kriek.  Yes, Kriek!  We'll introduce your taste buds to flavors you never new existed.  We also imagine that the combination of chocolate and alcohol will inspire much love just in time for Valentine's Day.  So whether you have a sweetheart or are in search of one, join us February 9th and be inspired.

Pairing Craft Beer with Holiday Dishes

Urban Oyster's Craft Beer & Food Pairing Holiday Tasting Event took place at Huckleberry Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on Wednesday, December 15th. The event included six high end beers from great local brewers, including Brooklyn Brewery, Ommegang, and Slyfox, led by Urban Oyster's beer experts.  These beers will be paired with three delicious holiday dishes prepared by Huckleberry Bar, recently hailed by Time Out New York as one of the city's best winter hangouts.   

Led by David Naczycz, co-founder of Urban Oyster, this event provided an opportunity to mingle with other curiosity-seekers while learning about different drinks and dishes. Attendees participated in a guided tasting of each beer along with tasting notes, and learned about the distinguishing characteristics of craft beers and their brewers, how to assess beer like a professional by looking at appearance, aroma, and flavor – as well as what food goes with each one (think holiday-themed bites like roast turkey and gingerbread cake). Discover the perfect beer to match up with holiday meals or give as a gift for the dinner table.

 

We also host private beer tasting events for private groups!
